TEETH CLEANING

The American Dental Association recommends that you visit your dentist for a routine examination and cleaning twice a year.

If you have a history of periodontal disease, you should get your teeth cleaned more often in order to prevent the recurrence of infections or disease.

Routine Teeth Cleaning

When we professionally clean your teeth we remove plaque, tarter and stains that have accumulated over the years.

Even when you do a good job brushing and flossing your teeth and gums, tarter can develop.

Professional teeth cleaning is a crucial part of good oral hygiene to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.

This is why we recommend a professional cleaning every 6-12 months to reduce the likelihood of periodontal disease.

Regular Teeth Cleaning

Oral Hygiene Begins at Home

In between routine cleanings, good oral hygiene at home is vital to prevent tarter build-up and gum disease.

Dental Plaque

Plaque is the sticky, soft film that contains millions of bacteria. This bacteria found in plaque is what causes gum disease and tooth decay if not removed by daily brushing and flossing, as well as routine trips to the dentist.

Tarter

Tartar is plaque that is left on the teeth, that mineralizes over time. Tartar becomes yellowed, and aged looking as it continues to sit untouched.

Tarter may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult to reach in routine toothbrushing.

Tarter, or dental calculus, is a hard calcified deposit that forms on the teeth and can contribute to their decay.

We use special instruments to gently remove these deposits without causing harm to the teeth.

Dr Dennis checks your teeth and gums for signs of irritation, swelling, decay, tarter, or bleeding and with our ultrasonic instrument we use a mild vibration to loosen and remove larger pieces of tarter.

Professional cleaning includes tooth scaling and tooth polishing and debridement if too much tartar has accumulated. This involves the use of various instruments or devices to loosen and remove deposits from the teeth.

I went to Dr. Dennis with a toothache; after my evaluation and cleaning; she recommended a root canal and a crown.  It was by far the best and most thorough cleaning I have ever had, and the root canal and the crown went well, I was quite comfortable with the entire procedure. My new crown looks just like my other teeth.  My experience with Dr. Cochran was so good that I continue following her.  She explains her findings very thoroughly and even has your Xrays up on the screen so that you are seeing what she is seeing.  Many of my friends now go to Dr. Cochran because she is so good at what she does. I have saved hundreds of dollars!  Her office is easy to walk to; I feel very safe in Algodones.  Even with people being very conscientious about COVID safety.  Everyone adheres to the safety rules, masks are worn, hand sanitizers are readily available. The people of Algadones are very respectful and friendly. Her team is super friendly and really makes you feel comfortable.  The office is very clean, it feels sterile, and she uses state-of-the-art equipment.  She is the best; you can totally trust her!
